18 USC § 922(g) & (n)  Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition by a Prohibited Person

Requires possession or receipt of a firearm\ammunition of someone from the following categories: felon, drug user, alien, prior domestic assault conviction, prior restraining order, fugitive from justice, dishonorable discharge from the military. Additionally the firearm or ammunition must have been transported across a state line at any time. Punishable by up to 10 years in prison or a minimum of 15 for three or more violent felonies.

18 USC § 922(d) Knowingly Sell, Give, or Otherwise Dispose Of Firearm\Ammunition To Any Prohibited Person

Requires conveying a firearm\ammunition to someone who falls in one or more of the following categories : felon, drug user, alien, prior domestic assault conviction, prior restraining order, fugitive from justice, dishonorable discharge from the military. Punishable by up to 10 years in prison.

18 USC § 924(c) Use, Carry, or Possession of a Firearm in Relation to or in Furtherance of a Drug Felony or a Federal Crime of Violence

Minimum sentence of 5 years imprisonment to life without parole(if death results from firearm use). Mandatory minimum of 5 years can be increased depending on the type of firearm involved and whether more than one offense was committed. Mandatory minimum can be affected by the way the firearm was used in relation of the crime.

18 USC § 922(k), (o) & (v); 26 USC § 5861 Knowingly Possessing Restricted Firearms and Manufacturing

Violations of this statute include any of the following:

Any machine gun, fully automatic firearm, or any part designed or intended exclusively for use in such a weapon

Any silencer or device intended to silence, muffle, or diminish the sound of a firearm

A shotgun with a barrel length less than 18″ or an overall length less than 26″

A rifle with a barrel length less than 16″ or an overall length less than 26″

Any automatic assault weapon made after October 1 ,1993

Any firearm which lacks a serial number or contains an altered or obliterated(removed) serial number
